Lucky number 7, that is the number of academy awards that Shakespeare in Love earned. No small feat and not misplaced. This is an excellent movie about William Shakespeare and how the evolution of his classic play Romeo and Juliet might have evolved. The story is good, but it is the acting that makes this movie outstanding! No huge name actors either, which why you will find such strong performances! If you have not seen this movie you need to rent or buy the DVD! This is a must have even if you will be paying a premium for it since it has a MSRP of 29.99.
What do you get for your Dinero? To start you get an amazing transfer! Never a hint of grain or discoloration. The film is presented in widescreen format and is 2.35:1 and is Anamorphically enhanced! The transfer ranks in the top 100 DVD’s. Well done Disney!
Not only do you get a great transfer, but you get an unbelievable audio track! A full Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack is included and it will not disappoint! Every word, ever sound is crystal clear and all 6 channels are fully used. An impressive display that will grab you and make your movie watching experience just that much more surreal!
The extra’s? Well you must keep in mind that Disney has plans for a special edition on this title and that this was just the bare bones to satisfy the masses edition. You still are offered a theatrical trailer. Nonetheless this is a definite buy title!
