SPY HARD
Reviewed November 17th, 1999 by Staff

Leslie Nielsen is back again in yet another comedy. This time around, the movie parodies the spy movies, Speed, Sister Act and even Home Alone. The movie also stars Andy Griffith, Charles Durning, Barry Bostwick and Robert Guillaume. You know it’s going to be a good movie when “Weird Al” Yankovic does the opening song. Just like Airplane and the Naked Gun movies, this movie also has its moments (but you won’t be seeing OJ here).

Agent WD-40 (Nielsen) is up against a rather funny General Rancor (Andy Griffith) who is an arms dealer. Years after defeating Rancor, WD-40 must come out of retirement and stop him again.

The video is presented in 1.85:1 widescreen format and is not 16x9 enhanced. Overall, the image does ok. The colors, black levels and sharpness seem to be dead on with very little if any grain.

The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and does an ok job as well. Dialogue and music seem to be clear without distortion.

The only extras are a trailer and a 4 minute featurette.
