TOMORROW NEVER DIES (SE)
Reviewed November 10th, 1999 by Staff

Pierce Brosnan, 007, James Bond at your service once again in Tomorrow Never Dies. James Bond is at it again in another high tech fast paced action filled Adventure. This time our brave hero is seated opposite Michelle Yeon a very sexxxy Chinese Agent. Their mission to stop world war III, if possible. Enter evil demented disillusioned psycho Elliot Carver a media mogul that wishes to rule the world. Soon news is reported before it happens and chaos reigns. Can James bond and Wai Lin foil his plan to take over the world? A good movie for a little more mature audiences since there is a lot of violence, stunts and sex.

The video transfer on this new SE is the exact same one from the previous release, but don't get me wrong why would you change perfection? This is a great transfer very clear and sharp with vivid colors and deep rich blacks. This does not make the top 10 DVD's of all time but just barely falls short. The transfer is anamorphic widescreen presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio.

The audio is outstanding also, with a fully active Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack being offered. You will hear every explosion, every bang and every kiss. Crystal clear and accurate what more can you ask for?

MGM knows what an SE really means. You are given a plethora of extra's that include: Audio commentary by director Roger Spottiswoode, Second audio commentary by second unit director Vic Armstrong and producer Michael G. Wilson, Story board overlays comparing initial drawings to final action sequences, Secrets of 007 featurette, Tomorrow Never Dies music video, Stunning digital effects reel, Isolated music-only track and interview with composer David Arnold, Collectible “Making of” booklet, original theatrical trailer and teaser. WOW!!! Did you get all that? Needless to say this puppy is packed. A great movie with lots of action and when you can get it for under $15 on the Internet it is well worth adding to your DVD collection! A small caveat, make sure you pick up the Widescreen SE version since all others don't have the content mentioned above.
